Every project starts with listening. Whether you need a fresh pair of eyes or a full design team, we shape the work around your home, your budget and your timeline.

Design Consultation

A two-hour visit to your home with one of our designers, followed by a written plan covering layout, colour, lighting and where to start.

From£450per visit

Room Design

A complete scheme for one room: floor plan, lighting, joinery and a curated list of furniture, fabrics and finishes, ready to order.

From£1,800per room

Whole Home

Full design and project management for larger homes and renovations, working alongside your architect and builder from first sketch to final cushion.

The studio

Designed slowly, lived in for years

Hartley & Fern was founded in 2013 by Eleanor Hartley and Sam Fern, after a decade each in architecture and set design. Today we are a small team of six, working from a light-filled studio off Upper Street.

We favour natural materials, honest craftsmanship and rooms that grow more beautiful with use. We work with British makers wherever we can, and we never design a room we would not happily live in ourselves.
